This ties in to my post about the pros & cons of social works versatility and the issues with how to define what a social worker does. This is regarding social work in the UK but it applies to US social work as well. Social work in the UK has been experiencing a public relations nightmare in the past few years because of a few high-profile case of children being murdered by parents who were already under investigation. Public sentiment has been that social workers handling these cases were repeatedly missing warning signs and not acting quick enough to remove children from abusive homes.
