Republican lawmakers in Missouri are defending their controversial bill to ban the teaching of sexual orientation in schools as a to prevent students from learning about the “homosexual agenda,” the “heterosexual agenda” and bestiality.
The myth of a homosexual agenda rears is ugly head again, but this is the first I have heard of a heterosexual agenda. Further more I want to assure Missourians that a romantic/sexual relationship between consenting adults of the same gender does not lead to bestiality.
Scharnhorst told HuffPost that teaching about LGBT issues would lead to other discussions. “There is no need to talk about Billy wanting to marry a goat,” he said.
If that is how your mind works; if your mind automatically connects two people of the same gender being in an intimate relationship with Billy wanting to marry a goat, then you are the one with a problem.
Scharnhorst stressed that his support of the bill should not be confused with his personal beliefs about the LGBT community.“I’m not bigoted,” he told HuffPost. “I have friends who are homosexual.”
This is just my personal observation but stating “I’m not bigoted. I have friends who are __________,” is usually an indicator that you are, in fact, a bigot.
