This article from the NASW is dealing with one of my biggest professional pet peeves. If you do not have a social work degree you should not hold the job title of social worker. Licensing laws are not enough. Every state needs to enact tile protection.
Here in New York, where there is no title protection for Social Workers, we have RN’s with the job title of Social Worker. We have people in CPS with non social work degrees being called social workers. It is not good for the profession or for the public.
