Marriage Equality: Federal Appeals Court Rules On DOMA

The New York State Federal Appeals Court has ruled that the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional.  Last summer New York state made same-sex marriage legal but couples are still denied federal rights and protections, such as filing a joint federal tax return, because of DOMA.  You can read the ruling in its entirety here.
